Thank you all so much for participating in our 4th annual Run for God 5k; it was another beautiful morning (a little windy) with cool temperatures and great friends. The Kid’s run was a wonderful addition and was so much fun to watch. I hope you all had as much fun participating as the volunteers have making it all happen. Thank you again for being a part of our event. Last year we assisted 5 churches on trips to Bahamas, Brazil, Haiti, Georgia and the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf. This year we have applications coming in for kids who want to participate in trips to Kenya, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Please help us to keep the word out about our organization and our event and how we all play a role in helping these kids to God’s work. It’s your Easter weekend 5k and I hope that all of you will make it your event and help us to grow the mission funds so we can help send more kids on more trips. About Run for God

Several years ago Sandy Cooper got this idea stuck in her head that simply would not go away. The idea was to organize a 5k race, an awareness campaign, to remind everyone that to live the life we should be living – we need to Run for God. After trying to think of a million reasons why she could not accomplish this task, in 2008 Sandy enlisted a few friends from church and from her running club and in 2009 we had the inaugural Run for God 5k.

About the Race

Race Start time is 7:00am This is a 5K fun run/walk taking place the day before Easter along the beautiful downtown Sanford Riverwalk. The race starts and ends at Fort Mellon Park on Seminole Blvd. The free Kids Run starts at 8 a.m. and all registered kids will receive an Easter basket. The race will be followed by the City of Sanford's annual Easter egg hunt in the park. We anticipate over 250 participants for this event and combined with volunteers, family, friends and spectators Run for God should be an even greater success than last year.
